COMPETENT, CARING TEACHERS AT ACCC!
Our program is staffed by caring people who have a rich educational and experiential background in working with children. They have been carefully selected because of their sensitivity to the needs of children and families. We believe that the teachers are the most important components of our quality care and education programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
The state department of education in California has a credentialing process for early childhood educators. The Child Development Matrix spells out the qualifications necessary for teachers to be certified at a variety of levels including Assistant, Associate Teacher, Teacher, Master Teacher, Site Supervisor and Program Director. Qualifications range from 6 units in early childhood education to a Bachelor's degree or higher and classroom experience. At ACCC we look to hire teachers who are eligible for these credentials.
Also, because our knowledge about the healthy growth and development of children continues to change, all teachers are encouraged and supported to continue their learning by attending inservices held on site, attending professional conferences, taking college classes and observing at other programs. Training topics include developmental stages, literacy, discipline, classroom management, curriculum, nutrition, etc. Each staff member is trained in the prevention of illness and injury, CPR and 1st Aid. Most of these professional development opportunities are funded by ACCC.
